When the children came home from school that day,
they were a little sad because the teacher had punished them and the father
had to go and see the teacher. When he finally got home, the children were
already in bed waiting for him. On his way home, he had had enough time to
think of a tale to tell his daughter and son. So he went into their room, sat
by the bed and started like this:
there are also other homes in the world
Once upon a time, there was a large meadow with
beautiful flowers and wonderful butterflies. On one side, there was a lake,
on the opposite side a large forest and on the right and left high mountains.
Every morning the butterflies came to sit on the flowers, so they played and
talked together. When it was late, the flowers were preparing for the night
and the butterflies were flying away. That was the world for flowers and
butterflies, nothing else existed.
There were young and old flowers and butterflies,
and of course, the older ones always tried to teach the younger ones. Of
course, the elders also made many rules that were often just nonsense.
Sometimes the younger ones had the impression that the older ones only wanted
to play the role of commanders, because many rules made no sense.
One of those rules, for example, was that the
flowers had to close their petals when night came, and it was the oldest
flowers that told the youngest when to close. Very often, the younger ones
had to interrupt their games, just because the elders told them to.
The elders had even created a kind of court and
judge to punish the younger ones.
Once, one of the younger flowers was in the
middle of a very fun butterfly game when the elders ordered the younger ones
to finish their games and close their petals. But that young flower and the
butterfly did not listen and continued playing. The older ones were furious
that these young ones did not listen to them and sent them to the flower
court.
With grim expressions on their faces, the flower
judges looked at the rebellious flower and butterfly. "Rule and order
have been broken," they began, "this must be severely
punished." The young ones trembled and did not even dare defend
themselves. The verdict was even more humiliating than the procedure.
"We, the ladies of rule and order, condemn
you to leave the meadow and go to the dark forest for three nights and days.
Live in the dark, so you will have time to think!"
The little ones wanted to apologize, but the old
were ruthless, "we don't need rebels," they said.
Big tears ran down the cheeks of the young ones
when they left the court, the meadow and entered the forest.
They went for a day and a night through the dark
forest, when suddenly they found a clearing with a very small lake. There
they could play as long as they wanted and nobody told them what to do.
After a week, they returned to their old place
and told others about it. And there were some who went with them to the new
place where they founded a new home without a court.
The children began to sleep, but they probably
thought about the tale in their dreams.
