The spaceship

Once upon a time, there was a very rich monkey king, whose realm was so vast that it had no borders, because it went all around the planet. He had two sons and his elder son was going to become the heir to his realm. Nevertheless, what should become of his younger son?
The younger prince was a cheerful monkey and already as a child had used to sit at the seashore and watched the sun going down into the water and the stars being reflected when the surface was still.
The king was very sad that the planet was so small and had space only for one realm. And although the brother princes had always played together, felt that one had to find another place for himself. When they were old enough, they got married happily but only one really had a palace for himself.
Then one day, the younger prince stood with his wife at the seashore and they watched the many stars reflected by the still surface. “Bring me one of those stars! This shall be our palace,” said the princess to her husband. For some seconds, the young monkey prince looked at her a bit perplexed but then his face brightened up again and he answered, “yes, you are right! But I will not bring the stars to you because we will go to the stars.” Now, it was the turn of the princess to be surprised, her face showed him that she didn’t really understand him. “We are going to build a big spaceship and travel there,” he continued.
Her eyes shone with delight. That was the reason she loved him for, because he always had extraordinary ideas and solutions for every problem. Nevertheless, some tears ran down her cheeks. “Why are you happy and sad at the same time?” he asked her. “I will follow you wherever you go but I suppose we are not going to see our planet for a long time.” “Probably, we will never see it again,” he whispered and hugged her. Slowly they went back to the palace.
The next day, the young prince sat down with his father and brother to talk about his plan. “We have always lived in a good relationship with each other and I will be very sad to leave you, but I need a realm for myself,” he began his speech and then he told his father and brother about the whole project. First, his audience listened in silence, then the father took his sons’ hands into his, “I’m very glad to have such great sons. You are right, you need your own realm and I’m sure you will find it. Tomorrow, we are going to work out plans for a spaceship and help you with everything.” He was relieved that the problem of succession was finally resolved without violence.
The construction of the vessel took some years and everybody in the community helped. Nevertheless, one day, it was ready and a big feast took place. From everywhere in the realm, monkeys had come to celebrate but many arrived with the desire not only to see the spaceship but also to travel with the prince to find and found a new kingdom. Some even hoped to find a planet where they could live without sovereign.
The vessel was as large as one of the biggest islands on the planet so that the monkeys on the ship would live as happily as they did on their native planet and not suffer from any kind of deficiency.
Then, the day of the departure arrived. Monkeys had been chosen who would participate at the big adventure; the number was half males and half females. The princess was pregnant and her first child would be born in space, but she only told the prince when they were already travelling because she was afraid to be left behind on the monkey planet.
They had travelled for many years but still not found a suitable planet, when the prince, now the king of the spaceship, died. His son overtook the command of the vessel. This went on for many generations, king after king reigned over the ship.
There were only a few thousand of monkeys on the ship and the number of new-borns had to be controlled as space on the flying planet was rare. Everybody knew each other and in reality, there was no need of a regent. So one day, the current heir was told to step down from the throne and establish a kind of council of the most experienced of the monkeys, because the new generations had not chosen to go on the voyage with his ancestors but were born on the vessel. Some generations later, members of the council were elected and at the end, every habitant of the spaceship could participate at the council meetings and the whole spaceship belonged to everybody.

P.S.: Is this a short summary of the history of humanity?
