Every night the children tried to find out what
kind of tale their father would tell them, but he always managed to surprise
them. And the same that night, he had a very special tale for them.
"What do you think it is?" the father
asked his daughter and son. Is it a girl, a bear, a hedgehog? the children
asked. "No," said the father, "it’s:"
"the sky is mine"
The father took a large blanket and completely
covered himself with it. Then, with a finger, he pretended to make a hole in
it. The children looked with great excitement. Then one of his fingers
appeared under the blanket. "This is my peak," explained the
father. "I'm trying to get out of the egg because it's too tight for
me." The children laughed because they understood that their father
wanted to play the role of a little bird, but this large body of his was
nothing like a little bird in an egg. It looked more like a dinosaur.
"I've eaten all the food around me and want
more, and the egg is too tight for me, but my arms aren't strong enough to
break this wall around me yet. Maybe I should use something sharp and hard.
With my beak, I hit the wall like a door," said the little bird.
Suddenly, there was a small hole in the wall. Fresh air entered the egg. The
hole got bigger and bigger, the little bird could already pass its entire
  beak through it.
In their bed under the blanket, the children
instinctively made the same movements described by their father. It was as if
they felt the fight of the little bird. Slowly, the father came out from
under his blanket, as if imitating the little bird. Eyes closed, he looked
into the candlelight, moved his arms just a little, and looked like he wanted
to dry his wings in the sun. He rubbed his eyes with his fingers. All of this
seemed so realistic that the children stared with their mouths open. Then he
stood up, went to a corner of the room, spread his arms like he wanted to
fly, and said, "The eagle parents come and bring some food for the new-born
  birds."
The father knew that it was not very healthy for
the children's teeth to eat sweets after having cleaned them in bed, but for
this special occasion, he had brought some sweets. And when he approached the
children's bed, still imitating a great eagle, he took two pieces of candy
from his pocket and held them in front of the children's mouth. They
willingly opened their mouths and he stuffed the candies into the open
mouths. The children did not even have to move their hands under the blanket.
The children's mouth formed a big smile.
"For a few days, the eagle parents brought
food and the small birds grew very fast," said the father. "But why
don't we grow so fast?" the children asked. "Because then, there
would only be giants in the world," was the father's response.
Then the father continued his tale as follows:
What the little bird had seen so far of the world
was his brother and sister, the nest they were in, on one side a high wall
and on the other the blue sky. But since he was a very curious little bird,
he wanted to know what is on the edge of the nest. Therefore, he climbed over
the edge and looked around. First, he looked up at the clouds and thought he
could catch one. But when he extended his wing towards one of the clouds, he
suddenly looked down and saw an abyss a few hundred meters below him. He was
so shocked that he would have fallen if his brother hadn't pulled him back.
But from that moment on, he dreamed of catching the clouds.
He watched his parents closely as they left the
nest or returned to the nest and increasingly tried to make the same movements.
The parents explained to the little birds how they had to move their wings.
Then the big day came and the little birds stood
on the edge of the nest and with great expectations, but with their hearts
thumping, they leaped into thin air.
First, our bird sank quickly like a stone. The
air around him hissed in his ears. He saw the ground get closer and closer,
  closer and closer.
When he finally took a breath, he was almost at
the height of the tree peaks. He still couldn't really control his flight,
but he already had to slalom to avoid a collision in the trees. One tree went
by to the left, the next to the right. When he was already enjoying the
flight, he looked back to find out where he had gone and suddenly found
himself crashed into a tree. For a few hours he remained in that tree, to
  rest and overcome his fear.
Her parents brought him some food and then he
tried again and again. Little by little he learned to direct his flight, and
then he remembered his dreams of the clouds.
He looked up and took the direction of one of the
clouds. It flew up and up, closer and closer to the cloud. Then he entered,
it was his. Dense air and suddenly it had come out of the cloud and could see
  clear again.
Now the sky was his.
And the children had fallen asleep, dreaming of
  the clouds. |
