When the father walked home from work, the sun
was just going down in the far horizon and he remembered what he had been taught
at school.
Stupidity without limits
Once upon a time, there was an extinct volcano
ten thousand miles below the sea. The outside walls of the volcano were as
precipitous as an abyss. No other world existed for the animals, seashells,
sea stars, snails and crabs, living in the crater valley. A deep-sea
anglerfish gave them light.
As this fish swam very high above them, they
could only see his light but couldn’t observe him. Therefore, they thought
him to be their sun. Each time they saw the light, they fell to their knees
to praise their sun god. When the deep-sea anglerfish was tired he
disappeared in a grotto high up near one of the peaks of the volcano walls.
One day, a very curious crab wanted to know where
their sun god disappeared, so it followed the light till his grotto.
When the crab had entered the refuge of the big
fish, it first was shocked and frightened, but then, it looked at the big
animal a bit closer and noticed that it was just a simple fish. Very quietly,
it moved away in order not to wake the fish and being noticed.
Then back in the valley, it told its companions
about what it had observed. The other animals were very upset. “Their god! A simple
fish?” So they went up to the grotto to see it with their own eyes.
When they had reached the place and convinced
themselves of their sun god really only being a fish, they got very angry and
wanted to kill it saying that they didn’t need a fish as their sun god.
Fortunately, there was another exit to the grotto and the fish could escape.
The seashells, sea stars, snails and crabs were
loudly celebrating their victory over the big fish but from that day on, it
was very dark in the valley.
The children wondered whether people could be as
stupid as those deep sea animals before they fell asleep.
